I recently noticed that it was getting harder and harder to get my missions completed by the number of participants that I specified. I thought that maybe the eaves incentive was too low or perhaps the missions were too complicated. But as luck would have it, (e)MADGETT let me know, upon my request to do a mission, that he had already completed my mission. That didn’t make sense to me since I knew his name was not in the list of those that clicked the green button and I had just duplicated the mission that day.
Then it dawned on me: When I create a mission using the “duplicate” link, it carries all of the previous participants with it… although their names no longer appear in the list of “Users who have completed this mission”. I verified this with Empire Avenue Support who wrote: “Yes, this is the way Duplicate Missions work right now – it keeps track of who completed earlier duplicates and they can’t redo.”
I had suggested that a “copy mission” feature be added that would copy a mission without the completes, to which the response was: “We will look into… making it optional.”
So, for now, if you want to create a similar mission giving all Eavers the option to play every time, choose “Create Missions” and start from scratch. I am choosing to copy and paste my description from previous missions to save time – since they are the same every time. The only difference is every day I have new content in which Eavers can engage.
Regarding this duplicate feature in it’s current state… it is not a bad thing. Certain missions such as “Subscribe to my YouTube Channel” or “Follow me on Twitter” can be duplicated at a later date without losing eaves to those that completed this action in a previous mission.

Hi Michael,
I noticed that you made this comment about missions on a users page and was intrigued. This does explain a lot. Not just about my missions but also why I get blocked by others when I attempt to do their missions. I can understand why I would want to block previous users if I was duplicating the mission exactly, but I use it as a copy function and edit from there… who knew? A copy function would be a great time saver… In the future I will do it differently… Great work and thanks for sharing!
nice post! the glitch it seems also includes doing a mission, but receiving zero credit…that occurred three times this past week on missions I had completed
Maybe EAv could add hover text that says that choosing to duplicate will block those who completed earlier versions of the same mission.
That is an excellent suggestion, Tammi.
Thanks Michael,
Such feedback is essential for improvements. You’re doing it right.
Thank you for posting this article. I initially thought I was just losing my mind when it would say I had completed a mission I didn’t think I had completed. Slowly I realized it was being caused by the way the mission was generated.
