How Much THC Free CBD Oil Would I Have To Consume To Get High?

It’s 2019 and the laws governing CBD oils are still in the infant stages. CBD dosing and THC consumption from “THC Free” products are the biggest areas of confusion.

What is THC FREE?

The legal definition of THC Free is like the definition of “Grass Fed” beef. A cow that spends half it’s life in the field is grass fed even if it was the first half of it’s life and it was then fattened on grains. The terms “Grass Finished” and “100% Grass Fed” add further clarification… and more confusion.

In the same way, “THC Free” products can contain up to .3% THC by weight. That may not seem like a lot, but when you crunch the numbers, a typical “THC Free” 30 mL dropper bottle of .25% THC can contain over 70 mg of THC. If you consider the bottle to contain 30 servings, each serving will deliver THC similar to about half a drag from a joint. So, if you have just 3 or 4 servings, you can easily experience the psychogenic effects from your THC free oil.

This will not be a problem for most people. But if you work in an industry that drug tests and you regularly use THC Free oil, there is a real good chance you will test positive. And if TSA officials find and test your THC free CBD oil, you may even get arrested.

What is Non Detect?

When it comes to being truly THC free, the term to look for is “Non-detect“. That is, laboratory analysis was not able to detect THC. Reputable companies will provide a “COA” (certificate of analysis) that shows THC as “ND”. The COA should also tell you how much CBD is present. A quality CBD oil might contain “80% CBD by weight”. These are often sold in a carrier “MCT oil” from coconut oil.

Furthermore, you can rest assured that you will not get arrested if TSA officials test your oil. They will not be able to detect THC.
